Five common mistakes in OET referral letters

Too long, too much history and a vague request — and how to fix each one.
- Copying every case note. Select only what the reader needs.
- Hiding the purpose. State it in the first paragraph.
- Note form. Use complete, formal sentences.
- Wrong tense. Past history in past tense; current status in present.
- A vague request. End with exactly what you want the reader to do.
